Persuasive Essay

We Should Take Responsibility

Responsible. Read that word to yourself and think what popular definitions surround it. A definition of responsible might be accountable, reliable, dependable, or trustworthy. "She is a really responsible person." "They don't take responsibility for their actions." "He was responsible for the accident." How many times have we heard statements similar to these? Based on my observations and experiences, I believe the personal responsibility is insufficient in our lives.

A few months ago, I left my car outside of a small shop. While I was going between the aisles one person asked me “Is it your car in outside? You need to go out and see your car.” When I got out the shop, the right front door of my car was dented. That person told me the blue truck was backing up near my car and he heard some sound. That car left very quickly and I could see just the image of that car. The driver knew that he crashed into my car and he didn’t want to take a responsibility for his action!

The other day, just before last Thanksgiving, I ordered a product by online. The company should send me the product in five to ten business days. When due date came I didn’t receive any package. I find the information out that the package delivered. Deliver company was UPS. I called UPS customer service and they answered that the person who was in my address received the package. In fact, there was nobody in my apartment. I explained them, but answers were same. After several days attempts I decided to contact to the store customer service and told them the story. Finally they resent the product. But just after that time, UPS customer service guy called me again and said the deliver leaved the package to our apartment manager. While informing that he was laughing, I was so nervous. I couldn’t understand why they lied every time, why they didn’t leave sample door tag? Who should take responsibility for that? Company? Delivery person? or Customer service officer?

I have one other thought about personal responsibility in the society. Some people ask money from others in the street, at the bus station everywhere. The majority of them have state welfare benefits for unemployment, homeless and etc. The more they have the benefits, the lazier they get. They should think about their personal responsibility.

Responsibility usually falls on everyone in the society.
We should take responsibility!

Analytical Essay

From Goat Skin to Human Body

“Who will explain that why those sweaters don’t meet quality requirements?” asked production manager during the weekly meeting. One said “The finishing technology messed up!” The other said “Because of dyeing problem…”, “The quality of raw material was not good”. Everyone was seeking to explain own reason. “So you mean that the goats ate the wrong grasses. The goats are responsible for quality of sweaters, aren’t they?” I, young new worker, was sitting a first time in the meeting and thinking “Why he said about goats?”

On the next day I started my internship to familiarise all processes of cashmere fiber production from the first step to the end. The first step was to obtain the knowledge about the raw material-cashmere. It combed from a goat and graded according to color and fineness. The original or natural color of cashmere has various shades of white, grey and brown. Then the raw cashmere goes through primary processing resulting in the highest quality cashmere.

At the same time I studied from the book that the cashmere wool is a fiber, usually simply known as cashmere. The finest and longest cashmere fiber comes from young cashmere goats. The word cashmere derives from an old spelling of Kashmir. Cashmere is characterized by its soft and highly adaptable fiber. It is noted as providing natural light-weight insulation without bulk.

Next step was dyeing natural cashmere and spin into cashmere yarns. Spun yarn is made by twisting or otherwise bonding staple fibers together to make a cohesive thread. Yarn quality defines garment quality.

Final step was knitting cashmere garments. Knitting is a method by which yarn may be turned into garments. Knitting consists of loops called stitches pulled through each other. The active stitches are held on a needle until another loop can be passed through them. A cashmere sweater is two or three times warmer than a wool jumper of similar weight. Each goat will only produce enough cashmere for half sweater per year, hence the rarity of this wool.

The end of my internship, I understood that why he told about goats’ responsibility. The process of cashmere products is complicated and requires high technology and detailed operations. Purely natural cashmere products have no harmful affects on human body while giving pleasure and comfort.

Chapter 13, Comparison and Contrast

Writing a Comparison and Contrast Essay
Comparing and contrasting is the writing and thinking strategy.
A comparison essay is an essay in which we emphasize the similarities, and a contrast essay is an essay in which we emphasize the differences. We use comparison and contrast thinking when deciding which university to attend, which car to buy, or whether to drive a car or take a bus or an airplane to a vacation site.

Chapter 12, Cause and Effect

Writing a Cause and Effect Essay
The writing a cause and effect essay is to analyze and explain the causes, the effects, or both the causes and the effects of some fact or circumstance. Cause and effect essays are concerned with why things happen (causes) and what happens as a result (effects). The most important things I’d understood are to know readers, to think logically, to distinguish between cause and effect. To determine causes, we can ask, "Why did this happen?" To identify effects, ask, "What happened because of this?" One more thing is to evaluate the effectiveness of a cause and effect essay by asking the following questions: What are the causes? What are the effects? Which should be emphasized? Are there single or multiple causes? Are there single or multiple effects? Is a chain reaction involved?

Chapter 11, Description and Reflection

Writing a Description and Reflection Essay
The goal to write this type of essay is to describe and reflect our personal event or experience. I found that the main thing is that it has to be a certain personal experience on which we have our very own perceptions. For that reason we have to describe the key details that make the experience memorable to us and worth reflecting on and show to the readers the details clearly, explain our insights honestly.

Chapter 10, Narration and Description

Writing Narration and Description
The purpose of a narrative descriptive essay is to tell a story very vividly to appeal to the reader’s senses. The more sensory images, or description, that is used to tell a story, the more interesting it will be to readers. Whatever the topic, the story should help readers SEE, HEAR, and TASTE those details that make the experience come alive.

Narrative, Descriptive, Reflective Essay by Lkhagva

Most serious accident in my life

It was one of my workday mornings. I was enjoying sunny spring day by looking through a clean, full-length window next to me. I was preparing a presentation which our company had to introduce to our company’s senior management at headquarter. Our company is a subsidiary company of the main company, which has various businesses. The meeting was scheduled to be held at the headquarter office, which was located 30 minutes of driving distance from my company. Everyone was checking his/her presentation.

Before leaving the office, our Chief Executive Officer reminded us to be on time for the meeting. Outside of our office building, our company car - black Toyota Landcruiser - was waiting for the team. A young spirited driver was seated behind the wheel almost ready to fly. Our company is located in industrial area, located on the bank of the river “Tuul”. Finally, it was time to leave. Everybody came to the car and we started our journey. In approximately two minutes we arrived at an intersection of the main road, we turned right and joined to the main road, which had narrow two ways, each has only one lane. On the one side of the road it was the river bank, the other side, where we were going, had a steep slope. I was seated in back seat and was talking to my colleagues.

A red mini car “Jeep” came from the other way. The car had stopped, flashing light to turn and waited for us. Suddenly the car turned left just in front of us. Our driver attempted to stop the car and warning beforehand by honking horn and had quickly swerved into back while slammed on the brakes. In a moment the red car was in front of us. It happened so instantly!

Came loud crash sound! We couldn’t see what happened exactly. I bumped into the side door, front and back space cushion and the one’s shoulder who was seated next to me. I suddenly noticed that someone gently mopped the blood from the wound of my forehead. The both cars were stopped long distance from each other. The safety cushions worked and it was full of smoke in our car. Our colleague, who was seating next to the driver, couldn’t move because of his knee injury.

Police arrived at the scene and a police officer gathered sufficient information from us, and took many photos of the accident. I was trying to remember what happened and wanted to be helpful for the police reporting. The police officer informed us that car accidents happen all the time on this road due to the narrow roads and drivers’ speeding.

It was me, who got a minor injure and spent only three weeks at the hospital. My other colleagues had major injuries and spent several months at hospital and even one of them needed to go to abroad to get sufficient treatment. Alone, lying on the hospital bed I was thanking God, and reflecting about my life and was appreciative that I was alive. It was very close to fatal end to somebody. Even though there were damages to health, property and time, we still don’t know how all these health damages will impact our overall health in the future. I am still concerned about my brain damage and its consequences. We have to live and see.
